The Beatles will release a new song in early November. It will be called Now and then and will be released on streaming services on November 2. This song was later written and performed by John Lennon himself in 1970.
They tried to remaster the new song earlier, but the quality of the track was too poor, Lennon recorded it on tape, and his voice was virtually impossible to separate from the background hum. Therefore, it was decided to resort to the help of artificial intelligence.
Decades after the demo was created, the track would be released as an official produced song, along with a 12-minute documentary, The Last Beatles Song, dedicated to the story of the creation of this musical composition. It included commentary from Paul McCartney, Ringo Star, George Harrison, as well as Lennon’s son Sean Ono-Lennon and Peter Jackson.
In a press release announcing the upcoming premiere, Paul McCartney said he was “pretty excited” to hear Lennon’s voice on “an actual Beatles recording” in 2023, and Ringo Starr described the song’s creation as “the closest we’ve ever gotten” to return Lennon to the room. The documentary The Last Beatles Song will be released on November 1, the song Now and Then will be released on November 2, and the music video will be released on November 3.
