Google Bard, an artificial intelligence chatbot, can now retell the content of YouTube videos and answer questions about what it watched. This feature, available in test mode through Google Labs, allows you to save time and avoid watching uninteresting videos, but for some reason important to the user.
As an example of using the new feature, a video with a recipe for the “Espresso Martini” cocktail from the America’s Test Kitchen channel was tested. Bard successfully compiled the important points of the video, including the exact ingredients of the cocktail and instructions for making it.
This use of Bard raises questions about the impact of generative AI on the content industry. YouTube videos are often a source of income for creators through advertising and viewing of related videos. Receiving information through an AI chatbot bypasses this step, potentially reducing the income of content creators. Google promises to address these concerns and will try to provide a solution that will satisfy both viewers and creators.
Now the function is accessible to participants of the experimental Labs program. The developers note that some effort is required to obtain the desired information.
