The businessman’s company xAI has opened early access to the Grok chatbot, which is positioned as a competitor to ChatGPT. The developers talked about its advantages and features, and also compared their brainchild with alternative solutions in special AI benchmarks.
The xAI chatbot visually resembles similar products from other developers. To interact with it, it is proposed to use the appropriate field to generate requests. According to the developers, the main advantage of Grok is that it is able to answer almost any question thanks to online access to data from the social network X.
The development of the algorithm began with the creation of a prototype of the large language model (LLM) Grok-0 with 33 billion parameters. This benchmark model is comparable to the performance of LLaMA 2 from Meta Platforms in standard tests, but uses only half of its training resources. Over the past two months, developers have made significant improvements in inference and coding capabilities, resulting in a significantly more powerful Grok-1 language model.
“Grok is an artificial intelligence modeled after The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, so it can answer almost anything and, much more difficult, even tell you what questions to ask! Grok is designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak to it, so please don’t use it if you hate humor!” says the xAI team.
Judging by the results, Elon Musk’s chatbot takes fourth place in the overall ranking, but beats GPT-3.5 in all tests. According to preliminary information, the chatbot will eventually become available to all X users with a Premium+ subscription.
