Figura is one of the startups that could lead the competition to Tesla in the field of robot development. Its product is a humanoid robot Figure 01 with artificial intelligence, focused on performing a wide range of manual tasks. In particular, the robot is designed to perform complex, monotonous and unsafe work in warehouses instead of a person.
The company has published the first video of its humanoid robot, Figure 01, walking.
The upright robot model Figure 01, 168 cm high and weighing 60 kg, has undergone modifications in decoration. The new product differs from the previously shown matte prototypes with a “steel” body that casts glare. In less than a year, the company was able to attract $70 million in investments into the project, $9 million of which it received from Intel. The world’s largest chipmaker hopes not only to benefit from the use of humanoid robots, but will also take part in the development of its “intelligence.”
To train an AI robot to become a loader, the company built a demonstration warehouse. In its current modification, the Figure 01 robot will be able to carry loads weighing up to 20 kg. The robot should begin performing loading and unloading operations for customers in 2024, when Figure hopes to begin mass production.
