In collaboration with Common Sense Media, a non-profit organization that evaluates the safety of technology and media for children, OpenAI will open a section for younger generations in its online chatbot store based on ChatGPT. The main goal of this solution is to minimize the risks associated with the use of AI by children.

The companies’ joint plans include developing guidelines and educational materials aimed at young people, their parents and teachers. An important aspect is the curation of a collection of family versions of GPT in the OpenAI online store, based on Common Sense Media ratings, which will greatly simplify the selection of suitable products for children’s audiences.

Together, Common Sense Media and OpenAI will work to ensure that AI has a positive impact on all teens and families. Our guides and materials will focus on educating families and educators about the safe and responsible use of ChatGPT so that we can all work together to avoid any unwanted consequences of this new technology,” said James Steyer, Founder and CEO of Common Sense Media.

The initiative was announced during the Common Sense Media Summit on Children and Families. During the event, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, expressed confidence in the positive impact of AI on children’s learning and the importance of integrating such technologies into the educational process.
