During its Q3 2023 earnings call, company officials said Samsung is working on an AI-enabled smartphone. Thanks to the new features, consumers will be able to access various services without an Internet connection – requests will be processed directly on the device.

“We are working to introduce AI technology as a new experience in our devices,” Samsung said, adding that it plans to begin producing such gadgets in 2024.

We are talking about introducing generative AI technology, similar to ChatGPT from OpenAI, which will run locally and will not require Internet access or a connection to an external cloud to operate. Thanks to this AI, the smartphone owner will be able to access various services using simple commands.

According to insiders, the first such devices will be the Galaxy S24 series smartphones; the release of the gadgets is scheduled for early 2024.

Experts regard this step as a countermeasure by Samsung ahead of the release next year of a new series of Apple iPhone 16 smartphones, which is expected to feature support for generative AI.
