Samsung said all Galaxy AI features in the Galaxy S24 will be available for free until the end of 2025, a period of two years.
After this, users will have to pay a subscription. But its price is unknown.
“Galaxy AI features will be available free of charge until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices. Different terms may apply to AI features provided by third parties,” Samsung said.
Information about Samsung’s plans to monetize Galaxy AI was leaked online even before Samsung’s official announcement. 9to5Google conducted a survey in which more than 70% of its readers said they were not going to pay extra for AI features on their phone.
Much of Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite relies on Google Cloud, including generative AI editing and speech-to-text translation, which incurs large costs. Therefore, the main part of Galaxy AI will most likely indeed be paid.
