Google has introduced a new version of its own chatbot Bard, which will have access to the company’s applications and services, including Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps, YouTube, as well as Google Flights and Hotels.
Google’s Bard AI chatbot is no longer limited to getting answers from just the web—it can now scan your Gmail, documents, and drive to help you find the information you need. With the new integration, you can ask Bard to do things like search and summarize the contents of an email, or even highlight the most important points of a document you’ve saved to Drive.
There are a number of uses for these integrations, which Google calls extensions, but they should save you from having to sift through mountains of emails or documents to find specific information. You can then ask the Bard to use this information in other ways, such as putting it in a chart or creating a bulleted summary.
The integration of Google Gmail and other tools into Bard, as well as the introduction of Bard Extensions, marks a significant step in making AI chatbots more practical and user-friendly. With privacy protections in place, Google is committed to addressing challenges while continuing to lead the ever-evolving field of generative artificial intelligence.
