On October 31, The Open Network blockchain set a world record during public testing, performing 104,715 transactions per second (TPS).

For the test, the project team rented 256 servers for validator nodes from Alibaba Cloud and launched a separate TON Blockchain network. It created a so-called “bomb” – a special smart contract that clones itself and continuously transmits transactions.

During the 12-minute test, the network processed more than 42 million transactions. The peak speed was 108,409 transfers per second.

It is noteworthy that this indicator is the highest not only among blockchains. It also exceeds the processing speeds of payment systems such as Visa and Mastercard.

The record was recorded on a test network of 256 node operators. With more validators, the blockchain could easily process millions of transactions per second from billions of users.

The previous holder of the title of fastest blockchain was Solana.
