On October 4, 2023, Google held a presentation at which it presented its flagship smartphones Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are built on the Tensor G3 single-chip platform, which has an atypical central processor – it includes nine cores instead of the traditional eight and operates at a frequency of up to 2.91 GHz. The chip includes one powerful Cortex-X3 core, four high-performance Cortex-A715 cores and four energy-efficient Cortex-A510 cores. Mali-G715 is responsible for graphics processing. The Pixel 8 smartphone has 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of flash memory, while the Pixel 8 Pro has 12 GB of RAM and 128, 256 or 512 GB of internal memory.

Google has equipped the Pixel 8 Pro with a display based on a 6.7-inch OLED LTPO panel with QHD+ resolution, 120 Hz frequency and brightness up to 2400 cd/m2. In turn, the Pixel 8 received a 6.2-inch screen on an OLED LTPO panel with Full HD+ resolution, a frequency of 120 Hz and a brightness of up to 2000 cd/m2.  Note that the younger new product has become more compact than its predecessor – the Pixel 7 had a 6.3-inch display.

The main camera module of the Pixel 8 Pro is built on a 50 MP sensor with improved image stabilization. There is also a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle module and a 48 MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. All cameras support phase detection autofocus.

In addition, a Melexis MLX90632 temperature sensor appeared next to the cameras in the firmware. It only measures the temperature of objects and is not used for anything else.

Pixel 8 has a new 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with autofocus and macro support. Nearby there is a 50 MP main camera with 8x Super-Res digital zoom.

The Pixel 8 Pro has a 5050 mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging and up to 23W wireless charging. The Pixel 8 has a smaller battery, its capacity is 4575 mAh, there is support for 27 W fast charging and 18 W wireless charging.

The Pixel is priced at $699 for the 128GB model and $759 for the 256GB model. The Pixel 8 Pro starts at $999 for the 128GB model. The cost of the most expensive model with 1 TB of memory was $1,399. The smartphones will go on sale on October 12, 2023. Pre-orders for the device opened on October 4. Pixel 8 will be released in black, gray and pink colors.
