At CES 2024, Samsung unveiled an updated version of its round robot, Ballie. The main new feature is the built-in projector. The robot can project an image onto the floor, wall or ceiling. At the same time, he himself will calibrate the image depending on the situation.

In Samsung’s video, the robot, decorated in a playful yellow color, shows off a variety of clever tricks using its built-in projector, including showing a bird video to a dog, displaying a video call on a wall, and broadcasting a fitness video for working out.  Samsung said the Ballie can automatically correct distortion and adjust the image based on distance from the projection surface and lighting conditions, and that “it is the world’s first projector that automatically detects the user’s posture and head tilt.”

In the video, the robot also performs the functions of a smart home assistant: it turns on the lights, distributes food to the dogs and sends text messages with information about its activities.

Ballie was first shown at CES 2020. Since then, the robot has not gone on sale.
