Waymo wants to launch a full-fledged robotaxi service with the ability to order and pay for a ride through an app, as is done in San Francisco, as well as delivering passengers throughout the city. On Friday, Waymo said on social media X that it has applied for a license in Los Angeles and will continue to work “with local politicians, emergency services and community organizations” to obtain it.

Waymo said it has permission to operate 250 robotaxis in San Francisco. This month, the company will begin testing autonomous passenger cars without a human driver on highways in Phoenix, Arizona.
